Dear Diary,

I bought a Movie-Radio Guide today and I’m surely glad I did, because I might not have listened to Hollywood Premiere next Friday if I hadn’t. Bob Hope will be the guest in the radio version of “Caught in the Draft.” That makes it a triple dose of Bob for next week: 1. Monday he’s on Lux Radio Theatre with Carole Lombard in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” 2. His regular show on Tuesday. (3) Friday, on Louella Parson’s Hollywood Premiere in “Caught in the Draft.” Gosh, what a schedule! I’ll be at the radio all week.

Dear Diary,

I was reading the paper and listening to the radio at the same time tonight. I was listening to Lux Radio Theatre. My eye caught that name in the paper so naturally I read it. It said that on June 9th the play will be “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, starring Carole Lombard and Bob Hope. Sure enough, at the end of the program, C.B. DeMille announced a new comedy team, “Carole Lombard—–and Bob Hope.” As soon as he said “—and Bob Hope” everybody laughed. Boy, what a comedian. Imagine people laughing just because his name was mentioned. Gee, if he happened to be kinda corny some night he could just repeat his name a few times and get lots of laughs.
